About the role:

As the Head Chef of our exciting new dining concept you will play a pivotal role in bringing our culinary vision to life. You will have the opportunity to be part of the pre-opening team and help shape the culture and success from day one. Operating within a state-of-the-art kitchen and restaurant, you will lead the back of house team and oversee kitchen operations, menu development, and financial aspects, all while fostering a positive work culture.

 

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a high-quality restaurant with a focus on Asian/Japanese cuisine.
  • Expertise in Asian cooking techniques, flavours, and ingredients including sashimi and sushi preparation.
  • Creative and innovative approach to menu development and food presentation using traditional and modern cooking techniques.
  • Strong leadership, training, and development skills.
  • Experience leading a brigade of 10+ staff of all levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Adaptable to change.
  • Exposure to financial budgets, food and labour costs.
  • Understanding of stock control & ordering processes.
  • Able and willing to work shift work, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Pre-opening experience is highly desirable.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
